Alison L. Miller, Psy.D. is a Maryland Licensed Clinical Psychologist with several years of experience as a School Psychologist in Pennsylvania. She works with children, adults, and families.

SERVICES

In addition to therapy, Dr. Miller provides testing and comprehensive evaluations for learning disabilities, ADHD, and developmental delays. She also provides follow-up consultation to schools and parents regarding the educational needs of children.

Dr. Miller specializes in therapy with children and families for childhood behavioral disorders, school problems, parenting difficulties, anxiety, trauma, and developmental disorders. She has expertise in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In her work with children, Dr. Miller includes parents extensively to strengthen parent-child relationships and encourage the development of effective parenting strategies. Her caring and realistic approach to working with children and families helps all family members to feel comfortable and begin to see results quickly.

Dr. Miller provides individual adult therapy to address depression, anxiety, stress-management, grief, trauma, and relationship problems. Her interest and expertise in treating OCD and ADHD apply to her work with adults as well.

Consultation to schools is a particular passion of Dr. Miller’s. She currently serves as the Psychological Consultant to The Banner School, Frederick County’s oldest non-sectarian private school.

BACKGROUND

Dr. Miller received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Emory University. She continued her education at The Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology at Widener University, where she received her Master of Arts and Doctor of Psychology degrees. As a psychologist, Dr. Miller has worked in educational settings ranging from preschools to colleges, as well as in multiple clinical settings. She left private practice in Philadelphia in 2006 to return to her home state of Maryland, and has enjoyed becoming a part of the Frederick community.


COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Over the course of her time in Frederick, Dr. Miller has provided a number of free workshops and presentations to schools, PTA’s, and professional groups. She has also contributed to Frederick’s Child magazine. Links to articles Dr. Miller has written can be found at the bottom of this page.
